Between April 12–14, 2026, our university’s Department of Psychology hosted an important evaluation visit as part of the undergraduate program accreditation process conducted by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula of Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, Language, and History-Geography (FEDEK). This comprehensive three-day visit was carried out as a meticulous review process in which the department’s academic and institutional structure was examined from multiple perspectives.
Throughout the visit, the evaluation team conducted a detailed analysis of the department’s educational activities, examining course content, teaching methods, and learning outcomes in terms of their alignment with national standards. In addition, the qualifications of the academic staff, their scientific productivity, and the academic guidance provided to students were thoroughly evaluated. Research opportunities, scientific projects, and the department’s contributions to academic development were also among the key areas of review.
During the visit, not only the academic structure but also the physical infrastructure and institutional functioning were closely examined. Classrooms, practice and laboratory areas, as well as the social and academic facilities available to students, were observed on site. Furthermore, the studies carried out within the scope of the quality assurance system, continuous improvement mechanisms, and feedback processes were evaluated in detail.
As part of the program, individual and group meetings were held with academic staff, administrative personnel, and students, and the perspectives and experiences of different stakeholders regarding the functioning of the department were gathered. These meetings made a significant contribution to identifying both the strengths of the department and areas open to improvement.
The faculty administration emphasized the great importance of this process, which is carried out with the aim of continuously improving educational quality, supporting scientific productivity, and progressing in line with national accreditation standards, and stated that it will contribute to the institutional development of the department, further strengthen its educational activities, and support the sustainability of a quality-oriented approach.
