Data entered into the MAUN QMS is based on the PUKÖ cycle. The PUKÖ cycle was first proposed by Walter Shewhart and developed by William Edwards Deming. The PUKÖ cycle factors, referred to as PDCA (Plan – Do – Check – Action), are formed from the initials “Plan – Do – Check – Act.”
What are the stages of the PUKÖ cycle?
Plan:
Do: This is the stage of taking action after planning. Each step of the developed plan is put into practice. Closely monitoring the results of the implementation stage will facilitate activities in the control stage.
Check: The most important stage of the PUKÖ cycle is the check stage. During the planning phase, if you want to avoid common mistakes and lead the improvement process to success, you must be very careful during the "check" phase. You need to observe how the first phase, "plan," is being executed and monitor how your plan is progressing. The check phase is where you can see the success of the goal you set in the planning phase. If your goal has achieved the desired success, you are on the right track. You can standardize your cycle.
Take Action: If you encounter any deviations and problems during the Plan - Do - Check phases, you should take action to eliminate or minimize the problems. If your prevention methods yield the desired results, you can fix your method and re-implement the first phase of the cycle, incorporating the effective method into your planning. If, after completing the first three phases, your work is successfully progressing towards your set goals, you can continue implementing the cycle in the same manner.
