The Department of English Language and Literature within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences proudly celebrated the graduation of its first cohort of students at a ceremony held on June 11, 2026. The graduation ceremony, which took place between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., was attended by academic staff, students, families, and distinguished guests, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, followed by opening remarks. Faculty administrators and department academics reflected on the department’s journey since its establishment and expressed their pride and happiness in witnessing the graduation of its first students. Their speeches emphasized not only the students’ academic achievements but also their cultural and personal development throughout their studies.
During the program, certificates of achievement were presented to high-achieving students. Graduates also shared their thoughts and experiences, expressing their gratitude to the academic staff and their families for their support throughout their educational journey.
The most exciting moment of the ceremony was the traditional cap-tossing celebration. Accompanied by enthusiastic applause and great excitement, this symbolic event added unforgettable memories to the Department of English Language and Literature’s first graduation ceremony.
