The "Department of English Language and Literature Güzide Yılmaz Reading Hall", which is designed for the use of students and academicians in our faculty, was opened. The opening ceremony was held with the participation of our university's valuable rector Prof Dr Mustafa ALİCAN, vice-rector Prof Dr Yaşar KARADAĞ, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof Dr Talat KÖRPINAR and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof Dr Ömer Faruk ALTUNÇ.
Prof. Dr. Zeynep YILMAZ KURT, faculty member of the Department of English Language and Literature, who undertook the construction of the hall, expressed her pride and happiness in the opening of the reading hall in her speech. Stating that he lost his mother shortly after coming to our university and received great support from his students in this process, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Kurt stated that he took such an initiative to ensure that his beloved students had a comfortable working environment. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Yılmaz Kurt also expressed that she was very happy that the university administration deemed it appropriate to name the hall after her mother.
The hall, which is designed to give a warm and friendly home feeling, has its own large book collection, and this collection will be open to the use of students of the department as well as students of other departments. The hall will create an environment where students can discuss and exchange ideas about their courses during exam periods and will also be used for academic meetings of the department and other important events. Thus, the hall will contribute to the academic life of the department by serving both students and academics.
At the opening, guests toured the reading room and examined it. We hope that the new reading room will inspire our students and academics and hope that it will be beneficial.
