Faculty of Arts and Sciences 2025–2026 Fall Semester Academic Board Meeting Held

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences held its 2025–2026 Fall Semester Academic Board Meeting on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Amphitheater (AS106), with broad participation. The meeting was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Acting Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Kasım Müminoğlu, Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Alanoğlu and Dr. Faculty Member Esra Çıplak, as well as the faculty’s academic staff.

In his opening remarks, Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Kasım Müminoğlu shared general evaluations regarding the 2025–2026 academic year fall semester and outlined the faculty’s goals for strengthening its academic, administrative, and physical structure. Within this framework, the faculty’s vision, strategic planning, and planned projects for the upcoming period were discussed in detail.

During the meeting, up-to-date data on the undergraduate and graduate student portfolio were presented to the academic staff. Statistical information regarding graduates from 2013 to 2025 was reviewed, focusing on graduate success, employment opportunities, and the quality of education. Additionally, the distribution of academic staff, the current status of departments, active and inactive programs, and suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of educational processes were discussed.

The current state and needs of the faculty’s physical infrastructure were also addressed. Discussions included potential improvements to educational spaces, laboratories, and common-use areas. Furthermore, the faculty’s national and international publication performance was reviewed, and certificates of appreciation were presented to academic staff who published articles in SSCI, SCI, SCI-Expanded, and AHCI-indexed journals.

During the meeting, it was announced that Dr. Faculty Member Esra Çıplak, who served as Vice Dean, has stepped down from her position. The faculty administration expressed its gratitude for her contributions to the academic and administrative work of the faculty during her tenure and extended best wishes for her future endeavors.

Additionally, it was shared that Prof. Dr. Tamella Aliyeva, who served the faculty for many years with outstanding dedication, has retired. The academic community conveyed its appreciation for Prof. Dr. Aliyeva’s valuable contributions and wished her health and happiness in her retirement.

In the following session, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican emphasized the significant role of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the university’s academic development and expressed his satisfaction with the continued increase in scientific productivity and high-quality publications. He thanked the academic staff for their dedicated efforts and conveyed his best wishes for a successful and productive new academic term for both the faculty and the university.

The meeting concluded with the closing remarks of Acting Dean Müminoğlu and the exchange of good wishes with the academic staff.
