“Astrologers and the Institution of Astrology in the Medieval Islamic World”
At the academic event organized by the Muş Alparslan University Archery Society on 27 November 2025 at 13:00 in the Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Classroom, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seyfettin Kaya, a faculty member of the Department of History at Siirt University, addressed the position of astrologers in the medieval Islamic world and the functioning of the institution of astrology. Kaya delivered a comprehensive presentation on the roles assumed by astrologers within the scholarly circles of the period, court traditions, and the state administrative structure.
The event, held under the coordination of Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Esra Çıplak, Academic Advisor of the Muş Alparslan University Archery Society, was also supported by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Kasım Müminoğlu, who attended the program. At the end of the event, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican presented Kaya with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his contributions.
