Our faculty member Ünsal Çimen gave a speech titled "The Murder of the Formative Womb in Ibn Sina's Hayy Bin Yakzan" at the 8th International World Congress of Women's Studies held in Antalya on 07-08 March 2025. In this speech, Çimen argued that the Sun giving shape to the primordial matter by setting in the dark sea in the west, as expressed in this work by Ibn Sina, is a patriarchal interpretation, that is, an interpretation that shows the primordial matter as passive, and that this sea in the west represents the primordial matter as the active principle that creates the cosmos in myths.
