“8 March International Women's Day” Event was Held

Cinema and Literature Society, which is the society of the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; The panel titled "March 8 International Women's Day", the first of the Spring Term events, was held at 1071 Malazgirt Congress Center Hall C. Our teachers and students attended the event, which started at 13:30.

The opening speech of the panel was made by İbrahim Burçin ASNA, academic advisor of the Cinema and Literature Society. Providing information about the community and the events they plan to hold for this period, ASNA ended its speech by thanking the panelists. Then, Faculty of Communication faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Zelal KIZILKAYA and Philosophy Department faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih IŞIK made a presentation. Dr. Kızılkaya in his presentation titled “Media and Women”; Drawing attention to the way women are perceived in the written and visual media, she criticized the fact that women are often depicted with negative images. Dr. Işık emphasized the importance of March 8 in the women's struggle in his presentation titled "Why March 8". In his presentation, Işık underlined that what happened on March 8, 1877 was a worker and class struggle, and claimed that today's gains of women owed to the struggle of that day. At the end of the panel, the speakers were given a certificate of appreciation after answering the audience's questions.
